Tomintoul 1968. Chester Whisky & Liqueur. 45 yo,1968/2013. Bourbon Hogshead.165 bottles. 47,8%.

It's been quite a while since my last review, but let's leave all that behind and have a taste of the
oldest whisky in my blog so far, Tomintoul 45 yo. Distilled  in 1968, the year when Jimi Hendrix was jailed by Stockholm police, after trashing a hotel room during a drunken fist fight with bassist Noel Redding and the year when the almighty Led Zeppelin was formed. Whisky from a legendary era indeed.

Color: Gold.

Nose: Oak at the front with ripe & dried tropical fruits, mainly ripe banana. Some citrus acidity. Sweet and inviting.

Palate: Sweet'n spicy fruit salad in a bowl of oak.  Icing sugar with some almond milk. Orange zest, bitter orange at the end. All in good balance and perfect drinking strength at 47,8 %.

Finish: Dries quite a bit towards the end. Some zestiness and sourness in the relatively long finish.

Very easy and vibrant fruity oldie, there's nothing shocking, yet there are no faults. In summary - good stuff at great price (around +/- 220 €). Whisky for the summer.

Tomintoul 1968. Chester Whisky & Liqueur. 45 años,  1968/2013. Barril: Hogshead Bourbon. 165 botellas. 47,8 %.
