Glen Scotia 20 yo. Wilson & Morgan Sherry Butt #1. 44,2 %.

So this is the second of two Glen Scotias which I tasted recently this time we have under investigation the little bit older indie sherry bottling.

Color: Deep amber.

Nose: Sweetness in different forms such as sweet sun dried sultanas, mable syrup, sweet sherry, then sour apple juice, grapes. Nice whiff of chocolate ice cream. All in all quite round with no angular points.

Palate: Surprisingly dry - not sweet at all,  (oloroso) sherry. Some wood spicies; cinnamon etc. Ground coffee and cocoa beans.

Finish: Dry with notes from oak. Dry sherry. Longish. Reminds me strongly of Beehive V.S.O.P brandy from my liqueur cabinet ;)

Both of these indie Glen Scotias were excellent but at the same time very different. IMHO the Malts of Scotland bottling wins by the skin of my teeth, maybe the sweetness on the palate was the winning key factor here.

Este es el segundo de dos Glen Scotias que caté hace poco, esta vez hablamos del embotellamiento independiente un poco más añejo.

Color: Ámbar oscuro.

Nariz: Dulzura en diferentes formas como por ejemplo pasas sultanas dulces secadas al sol, jarabe de acre, jerez dulce, luego zumo amargo de manzana, uvas.Un olorcito agradable de helado de chocolate. Al fin y al cabo es bastante redondo con ningúnos puntos angulares.

Paladar: Sorprendentemente seco - no es nada dulce, jerez (oloroso). Unos toques de aromas de madera; canela etc. Café molido y granos de cacao.

Final: Seco con notas de roble. Jerez seco. Bastante largo. Me hace pensar mucho en el brandy Beehive V.S.O.P. que tengo en mi cabinete de licores  ;)

Los dos Glen Scotias independientes fueron excelentes pero a la vez muy diferentes. En mi opinión el embotellamiento de Malts of Scotland gana por los pelos,a lo mejor la dulzura en el paladar fue el factor clave del éxito esta vez.

Glen Scotia 1992/2010, 18 yo. Malts of Scotland, Sherry Butt 429, 199 bottles. Distilled 18.3.1992, bottled 3/2010. 53,3 %.

This is the first of two independent Glen Scotia bottlings which I recently tasted side by side - so it's sort of a vertical tasting. Let's taste the younger one first. 

Color: Dark amber.

Nose: Nice sherry notes, such as sweet juicy sultanas and oloroso sherry with some tobacco leaves. No traces of sulphur, fresh.

Two Glen Scotias, on the left the whisky in question. 

Palate: Sweet arrival, mouth coating and oily. Sweet barley. Stewed dark fruits and fresh raisins. Strawberry jam. Faint smoke.

Finish: Long and dry. Oloroso sherry.

This one handles my taste buds in the right manner, decent distillation from a decent butt.

Glen Scotia 1992/2010, 18 años. Malts of Scotland, Sherry Butt 429, 199 botellas. Destilado 18.3.1992, embotellado 3/2010. 53,3 %.

Este es el primero de dos embotellamientos independientes de Glen Scotia que hace poco caté uno al lado del otro - así que en cierto modo se trata de una cata vertical.Vamos a probar el más joven primero.

Color: Ámbar oscuro.

Nariz: Notas agradables de jerez como por ejemplo pasas sultanas jugosas y jerez oloroso con unas hojas de tabaco. No hay ningún rastro de azufre, fresco.

Paladar: Al principio sabe dulce, reviste la boca, aceitoso. Cebada dulce. Frutas oscuras cocinadas a fuego lento y pasas frescas. Mermelada de fresa. Humo ligero.

Final: Largo y seco. Jerez oloroso.

Este whisky toca mis papilas gustativas en la manera correcto, destilación decente de un barril "butt" decente.
