Rosebank 16 yo 1990/2006, Malt Pedigree by La Maison du Whisky, Cask 1513, 56,7%.

Rosebank - the Queen of the Lowlands. Its name originates from the roses which grew along the side of the canal. Rosebank has been mothballed since 1993.

I tasted these two Rosebanks a few months ago, here are my notes:

Nose: Lemons in hot summer day, zesty, orange peel, yellow overripe tropical fruits such as mango.

Palate: Crispy combo of orange and lemon, white chocolate, Monpensiers fruit drops, mango, papaya, distant smoke!


Finish: Long and dry with grapefruit and lemon, beautiful whisky.


Rosebank 21 yo 1990/2011, Murray McDavid, Bourbon Cask, 54,6%.

Nose: More discreet than the LMDW - less active cask, I suppose. Faint oak, lemon.

Palate: Again yellow tropical fruits, lemon, tannins of oak.

Finish: Lemony and long, great balance, great bottling.


Very nice Rosebanks. The LMDW was more feminine and more refined while the Murray McDavid was more straightforward and less complex than the LMDW but still very good - and the Murray McDavid is the winner in my book (just barely).

Rosebank - la Reina de las tierras bajas de Escocia. El nombre tiene su origen en las rosas que crecieron a lo largo del canal. Rosebank está cerrada desde el año 1993.

Probé estos dos Rosebanks hace ya unos meses, y aquí tenéis las notas:


Nariz: Limones en un caluroso día de verano, picante, cáscara de naranja, frutas tropicales amarillas ya un poco pasadas - por ejemplo mangos.

Paladar: Una crujiente combinación de naranja y limón, chocolate blanco, caramelos de fruta (por ejemplo Monpensier Fruit Drops de Fazer en Finlandia), mango, papaya, ¡humo lejano!

Final: Largo y seco con pomelo y limón, un whisky hermoso.


Rosebank de 21 años, 1990/2011, Murray McDavid, barriles de bourbon, 54,6%.

Nariz: Más discreto que el LMDW - barricas menos activos, creo. Roble débil, limón.

Paladar: Otra vez frutas amarillas, limón, taninos de roble.

Final: Sabor a limón, largo, equilibrio fabuloso, un whisky estupendo.

Dos Rosebanks muy agradables. El LMDW fue más femenino y más refinado mientras el 'Murray McDavid' fue más directo y menos complejo que el LMDW pero de todos modos muy bueno - y el Murray McDavid es el ganador en mi opinión (apenas).
