Whisky from the Northern Highlands. The name derives from the Gaelic name Tom Aitinn (hill of juniper). Tomatin was in the 70's Scotland's largest distillery, annually producing 12 million litres of alcohol (nowadays around 2 million litres). It's the first encounter of Tomatin for me so let's see how it goes.

Color: Amber

Nose: Strawberry liqueur and wild berry jam with vanilla beans. Elements of sherry. Shy smoke in the backround. Overall quite sweet and fairly sharp.

Palate: Medium bodied. Creamy with some sour notes. Sharp sweetness. Hints of polished metal. Orange peel. Dries towards the end with notes from the oak.

Finish: Grapefruit. German glühwein and wine gum. A little watery and slightly metallic at the end.

Basic refill sherry bottling; For the thrill seekers - it is not worth the trouble.

Un whisky de las Tierras Altas del norte de Escocia. El nombre viene de la palabra gaélica Tom Aitinn (una colina de enebro). En los años 70 el Tomatin fue la destilería más grande de Escocia, produciendo 12 millones de litros de alcohol anualmente (hoy en día unos 2 millones de litros). Eso es para mí el primer encuentro con Tomatin así que vamos a ver cómo es.

Color: Ámbar.

Nariz: Licor de fresa y mermelada de bayas silvestres con vainilla. Elementos de jerez. Humo ligero a lo lejos. En general es bastante dulce y intenso.

Paladar: De cuerpo medio. Cremoso con unas notas amargas. Dulzura intensa. Unos toques de metal pulido. Cáscara de naranja. Se seca hacia el final, con notas de roble.

Final: Pomelo. Glühwein alemano y pastillas de goma. Es un poco aguado y metálico en el final.

Un embotellamiento básico que ha sido madurado en barricas de jerez de relleno. Para la gente que busca algo muy interesante - simplemente no vale la pena.
